Our Company History
A box may just be a box to most people, but not to Palmer Arzo,
founder of Industrial Crating & Packing, Inc. To Arzo, the box - his
unique patented box - was the touchstone to his amazing success as one
of the nation's largest and most versatile industrial packers.
Arzo's firm started out modestly in 1950, a short time after he
graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Accounting.
With his drive, enterprise and ingenuity, it wasn't long before he
surfaced as one of the leading packers in the United States.

Since its beginning, Industrial Crating has served as a diversified
packaging resource for corporations, government, military and freight
forwarders, handling both large-scale and sophisticated shipping
projects. It was the company goal to give customers exemplary service at
the best possible price. Based on this premise, during the past 50 years
Industrial Crating has packaged massive cargo shipments needed to
support the Korean and Vietnam wars, supported the North Slope's Prudhoe
bay oil fields, and packaged all of the equipment and buildings
necessary to develop large wheat farms in North Africa, among other
projects.
The firm has also packaged one-of-a-kind artwork, mothballed U.S.
Navy vessels and built special containers for air shipments of cattle,
ostriches, alpacas, goats and other livestock to large-scale breeding
programs located throughout the world. The smallest shipment Industrial
Crating has handled was a tiny gear measuring less than one-eighth of an
inch in diameter - it had to weighed to be counted. One of the largest
shipments consisted of a rare, perfectly restored Lufthansa Ju 52
aircraft which The Boeing Company flew to numerous air shows in the
United States before being packed and shipped back via ocean freighter
to Germany.
Handling several thousand individual shipments a year, Industrial
Crating relies on the proven experience and innovation of its personnel,
many of whom have been with the company for more than 20 years. With
advanced training in military and hazardous materials packaging
Industrial Crating's key personnel are well equipped to solve any
packaging need that their customers encounter. The company’s complete
wood and corrugated box manufacturing divisions were designed to fulfill
the need for small to moderate quantity orders requiring short lead
times.
Ever mindful of its commitment to remain a family-oriented business,
Industrial Crating has always considered the health and well-being of
its employees and the community as its primary concern. The company
contributes to the community by donating packaging services and supplies
to schools and nonprofit organizations that send items such as computer
equipment and disaster relief supplies to Third World countries.
Because of the aggressive role of the Port of Seattle in Pacific Rim
countries, shipments to the Far East have grown steadily over the years
and have become a major portion of the company’s business. With a
location convenient to both the Seattle and Tacoma ports as well Sea-Tac
Airport, Industrial Crating & Packing is anticipating that doing
business during the next 50 years will be as rewarding as the last.
